The story began with Chris contacting several football clubs to see how they managed their sports turf. He visited their grounds across Europe and realised that groundskeepers faced several challenges and lacked support tools. To develop a solution, Chris contacted Aurimas and together they applied for and received the EXIST Innovation scholarship for Smart Green Management. They entered the AHEAD programme by Fraunhofer to test and develop new innovative sensor technologies that can measure turf conditions in 2021. After obtaining positive results they founded turfcoach in 2022 and applied for additional funding by the Investment Bank Berlin. This allowed the team to grow by Katya and Kevin to its current size.
